The 2 million sf project features a 42-story condominium/hotel structure, more than 336,000 sf of retail and dining space, a 10,000 sf destination spa, 5 levels of parking, a 12-screen movie theater and a skybridge linking the development to the Bellevue Square shopping center across the street. The jobsite had been inactive for more than a year when Skanska joined the team as the project's construction manager and a number of program changes required significant modifications to areas already constructed. Crews reconfigured the previously completed parking garage and created a temporary façade for the office tower. Skanska self-performed the structural steel erection, reinforcing and post-tensioned steel installation, and all horizontal and vertical cast-in-place concrete on the job. The use of a column-hung concrete forming system eliminates time-consuming re-shoring and allows crews to cast one deck every six days. A typical deck of this size is cast every seven to 14 days using traditional methods. In addition, a metal edge form system being used by Skanska offers a sustainable approach to concrete forming, replacing wood forming systems that cannot typically be reused.
