Under a design-build contract, Skanska designed and constructed an integrated common utilization outbound baggage handling and explosive detection screening (EDS) system, airside terminal passenger screening checkpoints, service road and parkway security checkpoints, short-term garage entrance shelter, and other related infrastructure and facility upgrades incorporating the requirements of the applicable regulations for safety/security in airport transportation. This award-winning project has provided Tampa International Airport with the ability to quickly respond and implement new Federal Transportation Security Administration requirements into facility improvements.
