This design-build rental car project consisted of designing and constructing modifications to the red-side and blue-side rental counter areas, expansion of the red-side car rental counter lobby; a new high vehicle covered parking area; new quick turn-around (QTA) areas for car washing, cleaning and fuel dispensing; a new fuel manager’s office; installation of new fuel pumps inside existing fuel tanks, new car washes and fuel dispensers for the existing QTA area; new striping of all rental return areas; and rental ready areas, modifications to all agency rental return offices; and replacing all parkway and airport rental car signage. All work took place with no loss of revenue to the rental car companies. This was accomplished by hours of pre-planning and logistical modeling with Hillsborough County Aviation Authority (HCAA) and all eight of the rental car agencies.
Skanska successfully completed this challenging project by using a fast-track approach to both design and construction, rolling out multiple GMP deliverables and early procurement and construction packages.
