„Karolek” dormitory for Poznan University of Medical Sciences

Additional information

The building was being realized during severe winter, when the temperature dropped to -20 °C. In order to enable concrete placement in these difficult weather conditions, we used technology consisting in drowning special heating cables in concrete for the purpose of holding appropriate temperature. Thanks to this technology construction works could be continued in unfavorable weather conditions. We used almost 5 000 cubic meters of concrete and 600 tons of reinforcement steel to realize the building shell. Due to the fact that the access to the building was impeded to a great extent, we used the largest concrete pump in Poland to make realization of concrete works possible. This pump was large enough to concrete floor slab even at the height of 20thstorey.
