Skanska provided preconstruction and construction management services for the Apartment B project. The new,117,000-SF four-story apartment complex is located on the Janelia Farm Research Campus of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI). The building's concrete and steel structure,for the new residential units,are over a concrete podium providing 56 covered parking spaces below the building. The project houses 85 new residential units - predominantly one-bedroom units of 650-SF each,with five larger two-bedroom units on the top floor. The ground floor contains an elevator lobby,entry vestibule,utility rooms and ancillary rooms. The building exterior and interior finishes mimic the campus' Apartment A residence adjacent to the project site consisting of a metal panel and fiber cement board facade with high-end interior finishes. The project scope also included site improvements, site utilities, infrastructure, landscaping, parking and related site amenities.
