About Skanka’s new procedure for introduction to construction sites

Why is Skanska bringing in a new procedure and tools to handle the workplace introduction?

Answer: We want everyone who comes to our workplaces to be well prepared and know what they will find and also that everyone should have the same information. If you are well prepared, your first arrival at the workplace will go better because you can focus on that.

The new procedure for workplace introduction will be in place by the first of January 2020 - what does this mean?

Answer: All projects started after 1 August 2019 and ongoing projects that will go over year-end 2019/20 will have moved to the new workplace introduction procedure. All employees and partners must have taken and passed the Safe construction training no later than 31 Dec 2019.

What happens if subcontractors or partners arrive at the workplace without having completed the workplace introduction or the Safe construction training?

Answer: It is up to the production management to decide on action. No work may commence without a completed workplace introduction. From 1 January 2020, the Safe construction training is also compulsory.

Why not use ID06 card number instead of the personal ID number when registering for the introduction?

Answer: The card number is only temporarily linked to the personal ID number. If you change your employer or get a new card, you will also receive a new card number.

Registering or logging in to Skanska's workplace introduction

We do not have company e-mail addresses for our employees. What do we do?

Answer: If you are not able to prepare personal e-mail addresses for your employees. Ask them either to use their private e-mail address or create a new e-mail address for the purpose. This can be done free of charge via Gmail or Hotmail, for example. An e-mail address is needed if you need to reset the password, but also to receive a notification that the validity of the introduction will shortly expire.

How do I get an account for Skanska's digital workplace introduction?

Answer: You self-register for Skanska's workplace introduction. When you get to the home page, click the “register” box and fill in the details. To be able to do this, you need to provide the following information. Name, personal ID number, e-mail address, company, corporate registration number, immediate manager and telephone number, as well as the name and telephone number of your next of kin.

I forgot my username and password, what do I do now?

Answer: When you get to the home page, click the "Forgot password?" link and fill in the e-mail address you used when registering for the first time, then click the “send” box. The e-mail address is also your user name. When you have done this, you will receive an e-mail with instructions on how to reset your password.

What languages will Skanska's workplace introduction be available in?

Answer: Initially, the workplace introduction will be available in Swedish and English. When we feel confident about the content, it will be translated into another ten languages.

Can Skanska's workplace introduction be done in a group?

Answer: Yes, it is possible to do the introduction in a group, but approval from the workplace management is required. Check with the workplace in advance so you know what is expected of you.

How can people with reading disabilities cope with Skanska's workplace introduction?

Answer: Speech synthesis will be developed which allows you to have all the texts read aloud. Until then, we suggest a group implementation. Contact the workplace management for more information.

How long does the workplace introduction take?

Answer: Between 10 and 30 minutes for each part.

Does the workplace introduction need to be done in one go or can I stop and continue from where I got to later?

Answer: You can stop at any time and go back later and begin where you left off.

How do I get information about the expiry of the Skanska joint workplace introduction?

Answer: Each person can see their own validity period when they are logged in to the workplace introduction.

How do I know which workplace to search to be able to do "Part 2 Your new workplace" in Skanska's workplace introduction.

Answer: If you have not already received information about the workplace name or project number in Skanska's workplace introduction, please contact workplace management to get the correct name or project number.

How do we know that they have really read and understood the content of the workplace introduction?

Answer: We can never 100% know that the content has been read and understood, just as with an analogue workplace introduction we cannot know that people have listened and understood. To minimise the risk, after each section of the workplace introduction, we have put in an acknowledgement. In addition, site management will ask a couple of instructive control questions at the time of enrolment in order to ensure that the person has completed the introduction.

What languages will the construction industry's safety training be available in?

Answer: It will be available in ten languages. At present, it is available in the following languages:

  • Estonian
  • Finnish

  • Slovak
  • Swedish

Can the Safe construction training be taken in a group?

Answer: Yes, but the control questions must be answered individually.

How long does the Safe construction training take?

Answer: 60 to 80 minutes

How do we know that they have really read and understood the content of the workplace introduction?
