Since its early days Skanska has built offices for external clients in all home markets. In Sweden the telecom company Ericsson has been a repeat client since the headquarters building in Stockholm was built in 1938. In 1954 Skanska also began to develop own commercial properties. In the 1980–90s Skanska was Sweden’s largest private real estate company until properties valued at SEK 10 billion were distributed to the shareholders. Today, offices are generally sold when they are fully leased. New Skanska offices are green and with an energy need 25–50 percent below national standards. Skanska is active within commercial property development in major cities Sweden, Finland, Norway, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary and the US.
